Laser engraving is the burning of the top layer from the surface of the product with a laser beam. The engraving cannot be multicolored, when burned, the material either acquires a slightly darker shade, or the lower layer of the product created specifically for engraving or covered with paint is exposed. When engraving, the image level is slightly lower than the untouched surface, since the top layer is removed, and this branding method has a relief.
In addition, you can use an additional blackening service — for it, a special pigment is rubbed into the relief of the engraved surface, thereby achieving the blackening effect.
Any objects made of hard materials are suitable for engraving: metal, glass, some types of plastic, silicone, leather, wood. This method is often used for branding nameplates attached to products that are difficult or impossible to brand for any reason directly, for example, due to the complex shape or lack of a field for application.
Two types of laser engraving are usually used for branding — solid-state and gas (CO2).
Metal products are mainly engraved with a solid-state laser.
Engraving on organic materials — wood, leather, plastic, glass — is performed with a gas laser — the active medium in it is carbon dioxide, sometimes nitrogen or helium.
Thermoses, pens and some other cylindrical products can be branded using the circular engraving method — in this case, the application field completely covers the object or its separate cylindrical segment, if the shape is more complex. Circular engraving requires more time, which explains its higher price.
